Three new Sketches

Some more sketches. The top two are from the Kerrville trip. The Cowboy is Tex Randall, and he is in Canyon TX. He was built 50 years ago, by the shop teacher there.  He has been redone twice now.  He is 47 feet tall! A fun one to see. Of course I didn't do him justice! I painted it with Casein paint.it is similar to Gouache. The other two are transparent watercolor.  The are drawn and painted in a 5x5 sketchbook.

More sketches from the Kerrville/Fredericksburg trip.  I love these old houses with flags on the porch!  Of course the sign 'Texan' caught my eye!

Old Car

Two more sketches. I have been working on some collages and not getting to draw as much.
one is an old fence post from somewhere, and the other is an old car.  I have already drawn this a couple times. I keep finding different views of it.

Old Dump Truck

Out side of Sweetwater Texas is an old run down dilapidated house with some very old cars and trucks around it.  I can't believe people just leave their old cars like it was left there 50-60 years ago!

It is drawn with ink, and painted with gouache.

I drew this with my platinum Carbon pen in a 5x5 Sketchbook. Then watercolor.  I still love painting flags!

Experimenting with new paint

I have been watching James Gurney use Casein and gouache and I wanted to try the Casein since i love gouache so much. So here is a try...I sketched with brown ink, then painted with watercolor then went back with the Casein. It is just an opaque watercolor that has been lused for centuries.  It is made using milk. I don't really know much about it, even after googling it.

This is the Saddle shop in Post TX.

Two New Sketches

I wanted to try some new paint 'Casein' and did the small flag, just messing around with it to see how it painted.  One of the main things I noticed was the smell.  I haven't found much info on Casein, but hope to soon.

We were headed to Midland TX the other day when we got to O'Donnell TX we stopped for photos.
Right there on the main highway running by the town is an awesome old building and several old trucks! Of course I had to get a bunch of pics!
