Happy New Year!

I can't believe this year has already gone by! Way too fast. We have been so blessed this year, with health, family and friends.  My art has been fun this year. I got in a North Light book, and just found out that I got in another one coming out in September 2016!  I had my first open house in November. It was such fun.  I am making it a goal to get back to sketching in 2016.  Something happened and I have slacked off!  This first sketch makes me think how fast we  made it into another year!
My prayer is that it will go as smoothly as 2015! These were just fun sketches to do. Western art is still my favorite!  Happy New Year!

I have been so behind on everything! painting, sketching etc.  THis was a fun one I did while I had a student.  I just sketched what was on my table.  I just ordered some new pens. LOVE fountain pens.
I use a lamy most of the time with permanet Noodlers Lexington Gray. I really like that ink.

I was coming home the other day, and in Ropes, TX 2 men were working on this beautiful Steeple.
I didn't have my good camera and I was so upset!  I used my phone and shot what I could. Hopefully I can work from the 'not so good'  photo!

THe bottom one is a Santa Fe  Sketch with stablo pen i used to draw it with.

September 4th Sketches for paintings

Two New sketches today for the 30 day challenge I am doing right now.  Paint 30 paintings in 30 days! I am going to try for 30 paintings from Santa Fe, NM.
This is Day 4 and 5 value Study using tombow markers.  The one on the bottom is done with a gray one, and the top with black.  Then using some water to get the softer and mid tone. I love using these markers.

Saddle

Western Art is my very favorite! This is a saddle with a white seat, on a white horse.  I used the DeAtramentis Tobacco ink to draw with.  It is not waterproof so you can soften it.
This is in a mole skin sketchbook.  I really like the way it paints!

Wild Flowers sketches

Small Folding sketchbook
I made a folding accordion sketchbook, and sketches the wildflowers that we have here now,
because of all the awesome rains! I have never seen that purple flower, 'Horse Mint'
It is truly a gorgeous unusual flower.

New Sketches

My favorite flowers! Tulips. I put some color down first, then drew the flowers.

The little camper was in New Mexico. I took this photo several years ago and just wanted to sketch it yesterday, in honor of Memorial Day.

The old barn is behind our house.  It is over 60 years old, and is falling down! Due to the wonderful rains, the sunflowers are growing like crazy back there.

June 12-13 I will be teaching a sketchbook class. Come join us! If you are interested, email me.

Sketchbook Workshop June 12-13

We will have a sketchbook workshop June 12-13.  Keeping a sketchbook will help you learn so much about drawing. I have room for 10-12 in my Studio. Let me know if you are interested in joining us. The cost is $60 for both days.  You can just do one day if you can't make both. Sketching is so much fun! The first day I plan on working inside and on the second, go out and sketch out doors. Now that is really fun!
email me if you are interested.  All you really need is a good sketchbook, a pen, small watercolor palette if you want color! I like to use water soluble markers too.  We will cover the different kinds of things you can use.

Fun Sketches

This was done with the sketch and wash pencil. I really like using it.
You draw, shade, etc. and then use water with a brush!
The bottom one is done with a tombow water soluble pen. I really love using these for darks and grays.
It is used the same way.  Draw, then use water on parts of it.

Two Sketches

I enjoyed both of these sketches! I love adding color to my ink drawing.
The Camper is in Plains, and I love this old camper!
I think it would be fun to redo it.
I just used the ink, and tombow with some water on it, then added the red flowers.

Our pear tree is blooming and this nest is sitting there with blooms in places on it.
It is so cute. There is a dove there now, waiting the hatching day! This is done with pen and ink, and then some tombow pen and water.
