Patriotic Barn

Right after 9-11, we were in another part of Texas, and we passed this barn in the country.
I love the flag, etc. and I actually did a painting soon afterwards, and sold it.  This is just a daily sketch, but brings back memories.  I didn't quite get it wide enough  but guess thats the fun of sketching, esp with ink.  I used my brown tobacco ink that I love so much.

Iowa Barn

This is a barn in Iowa...I took it going down the highway.  Some of us went to help during their flood disaster.  I think it was 2008.    The barns there are so pretty.  And white!  And Big!

I just put down some blue and pink and left some of the paper showing, not knowing what I would draw on it.  I decided the white barn would work.

Convent in Stanton, TX

Sketch tonight. I took a photo in 1985 of the convent in Stanton, TX on the outside of the locked fences. I finally sketched it! They are renovating it and would love to see it. I think it was built in 1884.

Catching up!

I am behind again! Is hard to remember to post the new sketch each day especially since i normally draw them late at night.  These are sketches Feb. 13-17th. For some reason, I skipped the 14th, but the flowers at the bottom are the flowers I bought for Valentines day!

The top one is a window from Seattle Washington. The 2nd one is an abandoned house near Sweetwater Tx, the third one is an alley somewhere...I don't remember where I took this. The last one is a small vase of roses and babys breath, along with a couple small lilies. it is a view from the top.

1954 Cadillac

This old car sketch goes with the house and Gas station attendant that I posted a while back.
These are from a friends memory and she wanted them as a set. I added the other two to make the whole set.

Old house

This is an old house on the back roads of Texas somewhere!  I sketched it with pencil due to all the stuff, then I use my gray and black tombow to shade it.  Then I used white gouache on the whites.
I still love the black and white value studies.
This was done in a 5.5x5.5 hand book sketchbook.

Feburary 4 Sketches

While we were in Atlanta Ga a couple years ago we ate at Mary Macs. Oh Yum!
It was so good. We had friend chicken and biscuits. Can't remember what else, just remember how good it was, and what a cute place it is. I recommend it if you are in Atlanta!
The other sketch is a sign I saw while we were there. I love old signs.

Feburary 2 sketches

I got two sketches done tonight.  An old Church and a garage in Andrews, TX
I used a paint marker for the church, and tobacco ink for the garage.  Anytime my subject is in browns, i use that ink.

New Sketches

Some new sketches..just whatever I can find to draw. The old restaurant is done with ink and tombow marker.  The Cow were in Midland, TX.  I was getting new glasses and saw the cool sign ...
the barn and sign were somewhere near Fredericksburg.

Renfro Street-Brownfield TX

Another sketch to go with the gas attendant!  This is on Renfro Street in Brownfield, TX, and the family that lived here was named 'Renfro'.  They owned a gas station and another shop on Main Street.  So many memories in these old photos. I love these old houses and hate to see them disappear!  Thanks to Glenda for sharing them with me.  There is one more Sketch to come...
soon!
