Sketching/Drawing workshop

I am so excited to be having  a drawing/ sketching workshop June 23-24th. The first day we will focus on some drawing techniques, what to draw with, and sketchbooks. The Cost is $100.
my email is suzy_pal2000@yahoo.com  Address is 1141 US HWY 82 Plains, TX 79355
I need half ($50) by June 5 to hold your spot. (they wont be cashed until the workshop is over)

The second day we will go out and sketch. I will have some places for us to go. We will probably want to start by 9 a.m to beat the heat. We can go east of town and sketch windmills. The motel sign in town is awesome. We also have an old courthouse. Also a lavender patch...maybe.
I am so excited about getting to share this fun.

I recommend watercolor or mixed media sketch books because they won't ripple when wet.
I love moleskins, strathmore, visual journal, etc.
I draw with ink and use fountain pens, but if you can't let go of your pencil I understand.
The windmill, hay field and Motel sign were drawn on location.

you can pick up travel watercolor sets, or make one, as well as travel brushes. OR any watercolor brush. You wont need a lot. here is a list I like to use. I will send it to Karen at Varistiy Book store if you want to shop there. Or you can order via amazon or art supply stores online.

You need to bring your lunch. I have a small refrigerator.  and lots of ice.
also on Saturday, we can eat in town if we don't' want to run back out here. (4 miles)

If you come and need a place to stay, there is an awesome bed and breakfast right outside of Plains. You would need to get your reservation pretty quick though.  There are 4 bedrooms. one can be shared, so if you have a friend to come with you, that would help!

Visit to a Ranch.

More drawings and sketches.  I was gone for several days this past week teaching so I am just now adding some more.  I love to do these at night watching tv. I got to visit a ranch before I came home and these are from the photos I took.  The ash tray is such a cute addition to their home! The 2nd picture is a bit for a bridle.  and then the end of their house, that was built in 1938. It was so cozy and neat. original doors, etc. really fun to see it.  The last one is their dog Fuzz. He was so pretty and friendly.

Come Have fun filling up a Sketchbook. June 23-24th.

I needed to change the date on the Sketchbook Workshop to June 23-24th in Plains.

More sketching. Still trying for each day! The green doors were in Pennsylvania, and the pick up was somewhere near Santa Fe NM.  The bottom sketch is the little depot in Ropes, TX. It is bright yellow and with the sun hitting it, it is so cheery! These are in my little 5x5 Hand Book, Sketchbook.

Febuary 23rd Sketches

Today I did a couple of sketches while my student worked on her art. I also made some stamps to use in my sketchbook. It was fun! I am addicted!
The sunflowers and the pencil drawing are from photos from Seattle.
To make the stamps you have to write words backwards, and leave what you want to see, and carve away the rest. I used the linoleum carving set. It is very easy and pretty quick. I also made a bird and paint brush.

Fun Sketches

Last year we had our photos made.  The first time in our married life to really have a professional photo and there was an old pickup that they use for some of their shots.  I took a photo of it, and am just now getting it sketched.

The chair is my Grandmothers Chair and Kens hat with the sun coming through the window.

Days 17-19

I am having problems keeping up with posting but is OK I guess!
Days  17-19
The blue grass band in Pigeon Ford was really good!

This bear is from a pamphlet for the Smoky Mountains.

We got to eat at Paul Deen's.  It was very good.

We got to go to a concert with Montgomery Gentry.  It was so good. I hope they don't see this!

The milk shakes are from Johnny rockets. They were so good!

Actually the wheel chairs aren't from the Tennessee trip, but I did them in the Drs. office.

Day 15 and 16

Day 15

A lot of the barns there had quilt designs over the doors. It was very interesting.

I googled why they had them, and it is called a quilt trail. pretty interesting.

 Day 16
I used the real photo, cut out the sign and Keri, and painted trees around it.
This is a fun way to do a sketch book. Especially for beginners! The bottom one is an old hound taking a nap by the firewood.  We just thought it was a neat scene.
