Dallas Urban Sketch workshop

A Lot of sketches to post! I was so happy to get to go to a workshop in Dallas with the great sketcher James Richards. It was an awesome experience.  He is such a gentleman and so kind.  His wife Pati is just as great as he is.  I am blessed to get to have met them both, and learn from him.
We sketched inside and outside on location.  Painting out is my favorite! I am posting a photo of the three of us, and I have a black eye from an eye procedure. My Dr. didn't even apologize for it.

I sketched while waiting for the shuttle as well as at the airport. It was a lot of fun.  It is true, nobody notices what you are doing!

Nancy Standlee and Suzanne ONeill all stayed together. Was a lot of fun!
This was at the Olive Garden one night.

New Sketches

I am taking one of the Sketchbook skool classes, and the lesson was on Cross hatching.  I didn't do too many on this old building but it's mainly for shadow and shapes.  I did it in ink, and took a photo, then I decided to put color on it. I love color!  The Cafe is an old building on the way to Carlsbad NM. I had to turn around and go back for a picture!  For this little painting I did a different technique.  I painted the page with yellow and white casein.  Then I drew with pencil after it dried, and painted it with watercolor and some gouache.
It was a fun piece to do.

Still Trying!

I still want to learn more about drawing so I did 3 more tonight. One is my cousin, one is from a magazine and one off of a tv program.  Still so much to learn!

New Sketches

Some new sketches..just whatever I can find to draw. The old restaurant is done with ink and tombow marker.  The Cow were in Midland, TX.  I was getting new glasses and saw the cool sign ...
the barn and sign were somewhere near Fredericksburg.

A new Year-2017

After sketching every day in December I sort of took a break! I have not done much since then, so here is a Panda Bear that was at the Atlanta Zoo. Such a cutie, just lying there watching people snoozing off and on.

Days 17 and 18-December Challenge

This challenge has been fun because I love to draw Christmas stuff!  I love painting funny snow people.    Day 17 is the cowboy.   I love stick horses so I had to add that!
Day 18 is Candy.  When we were kids ribbon candy was the candy my mother would buy, and we loved it! Maybe it was all the color that I liked!

Days 7, 8 and 9

Is hard to post a picture each day, and i get behind!
Here are Days 7,8 and 9.
I looked up the song, 'I heard the Bells on Christmas Day' and was surprised to find out Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote it as a poem as his son was injured in the Civil war and he was taking care of him.  I was touched by the story and all the words. Especially the last two stanzas.
The challenge was draw a bell.  Day 8 was a red bird, and Day 9 was a fireplace.  The fireplace was drawn with an elegant writer and i kept it all black except for the wreath. I just wanted to do something different.
