The end of a year...the start of a new one!

This is the end of a very blessed year! Happy new year to all!
I hate I have so many sketches here, but wanted to get all of my 2017 on here today!

sketch from an old looking motel somewhere in Dallas.

We ate at Pappasitos Cantina  was very good.
A girl on her phone at the Airport in Dallas.

We ate at Mary's in Strawn Texas! We had a long wait. They are famous for their Chicken fried steak.

Getting the oil changed and a woman was eating popcorn

While in Fort Worth we went to the movie  'The Star'.  A children's movie about Jesus's Birth. It was so cute!

Some cotton sketches...

Dallas Urban Sketch workshop

A Lot of sketches to post! I was so happy to get to go to a workshop in Dallas with the great sketcher James Richards. It was an awesome experience.  He is such a gentleman and so kind.  His wife Pati is just as great as he is.  I am blessed to get to have met them both, and learn from him.
We sketched inside and outside on location.  Painting out is my favorite! I am posting a photo of the three of us, and I have a black eye from an eye procedure. My Dr. didn't even apologize for it.

I sketched while waiting for the shuttle as well as at the airport. It was a lot of fun.  It is true, nobody notices what you are doing!

Nancy Standlee and Suzanne ONeill all stayed together. Was a lot of fun!
This was at the Olive Garden one night.

The Chuck Wagon

Last week some of my art friends and I went to the cowboy symposium.  Loved seeing all the stuff they used to use back in the pioneer days.  It is done in a moleskin watercolor sketchbook.
And another bronc rider, using the toned paper and gouache..

Western Sketches using watercolor and gouache

For some reason is hard to keep up. I am still trying to sketch but haven't been as successful! A lot going on lately.  I am having a workshop this next week end, and have been working on getting new pieces for a show in Ft.Worth, TX.   I am just going to try to catch up. It may take two posts!
These are on toned paper using watercolor and gouache, as well as some other sketches.

Dead Vehicle Challenge

James Gurney posted a challenge...Paint a dead vehicle. One that doesn't run. Car or truck.
I wanted to do this old vehicle for a while so I set up there and did it.  It had to be painted on location, and you had to post a photo of your easel, etc.  This old international is in Plains, TX.
I started out trying to use oils but I don't paint enough with oil to know what to do, so I ended up using a sketchbook, and drawing it with my fountain pen and ink, then painted with watercolor and a little gouache.

Two new flag sketches

I still love drawing and painting flags.  I took a few pictures of our flag one day when it was cloudy and windy.  These are just plain fun, and I  LOVE our American Flag.
